The graduates of the program will be not only capable of making decisions in new conditions, they are supposed to form an active and proactive business attitude in response to new challenges and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development and carbon neutrality goals.
For graduates of all bachelor’s programs of the Department of Economics, NSU who are interested in gaining knowledge and skills in the field of management and business development to work as a manager of a sustainable corporation or a medium / large company that adheres to the principles of sustainable development and green economy, to create their own business in the field of green economy, to work in institutions in the field of economic and environmental development.
For graduates of bachelor’s programs from other faculties (departments) of NSU and other universities interested in building competencies in the economic, social, environmental and climatic fields of knowledge, including in obtaining and developing skills in the use of modern tools for analysis and doing researches in the financial and economic sphere.
For current managers, heads of business firms (SMEs) and large corporations, development professionals from the private sector, as well as employees of various government agencies who want to supplement or update their own knowledge and skills with an emphasis on sustainable development and a green economy.

The program combines a modern research base with a business perspective. We are convinced that future managers need to understand the world and the context in which they operate before implementing viable solutions. Based on an understanding of environmental challenges, the program covers economic, social and political aspects related to sustainable development and the formation of a green economy. Just as sustainability is based on the concept of triple bottom (three foundations): economic, environmental and social, understanding these foundations forms the philosophy, strategy and tactics of doing business, embodied in the principles of ESG. This is how the main content blocks of the program are formed:
Level 1
Therefore, the program begins with an introduction to sustainable development research and the natural sciences of climatology and ecosystems (Environment). Along with an initial introduction to economics and management for sustainable management, the master examines the economic perspective of resource exploitation and emission control, on the basis of which government regulations (Governance - Economics and Management) are formed. Thus, the emphasis moves to the social area: politics, values, lifestyle form the perspective of management, given changing social and political priorities (Society).
All this makes it possible to form approaches to management from the standpoint of sustainable development and a green economy, to master various tools: green finance, green markets, including carbon markets, green marketing, technologies and ways to reduce the carbon footprint.

Suitably qualified students are expected to complete their undergraduate studies in humanities, preferably classics or philosophy. A good command of Greek and Latin is also desirable, but not required
At the end of each term, students must demonstrate skills in languages required for independent research in their fields of expertise. Greek and Latin courses offered by the program are subdivided in two levels. Students with previous knowledge of the classical languages take Intermediate and advanced courses of Greek and Latin, while those with no previous knowledge of the classical languages will be offered intensive Beginner’s courses
All students will (1) complete required courses; (2) submit two qualifying papers, one in the history of ancient philosophy, the other in the area of their particular interest; (3) write and defend their Master’s thesis.
All students working on their Master theses must report on the progress of their work once per semester. The complete thesis must be a substantial project under the supervision of a faculty member. Such projects can be in any of the areas covered by the Program, including various aspects of ancient philosophy, theoretical aspects of ancient history, arts and literature. The topic is to be approved by faculty committee. Master thesis should contain overview reflecting a shared professional erudition of the author, as well as independent research part with the student's own research results.

To complete the MA Program in “Paleobiological and Stratigraphic Aspects of Paleobotany Research”, students must prepare and defend a Master's thesis. The GGD Historical Geology Section proposes thesis topics that are approved by the Department’s academic council. Supervisors appointed by NSU GGD specialized departments provide the research work materials. Graduate students from foreign counties can bring their independent research material with them. With prior agreement, students can use the subject of their undergraduate research for their MA research activities.
The NSU GGD Historical Geology and Paleontology Sections will assess the need for 1st and 2nd-year MA students to conduct geological field research in the summer and, when possible, costs will be covered by NSU and SB RAS specialized, geological institutes. The key planned subjects for field geological research are the Altai-Sayan folded region, the Siberian platform, and the neighboring regions of Siberia. In these regions, there are stratified geological objects of Late Precambrian - Paleozoic - Mesozoic - Cenozoic age sedimentary basins in which various marine and continental communities of organisms are found. Fieldwork is conducted according to Russian legislation regarding foreign citizens stay in Russia.
