The research methodology combines actionist approach to identity studies and the concept of narrative identity. Premises and ways of formation of Siberian identity are analyzed, as well as its manifestations and contexts of actualization: migration history, family history, engagement with the territory and encountering specific regional problems are claimed as making significant contribution to the formation of people’s regional identity in Siberia. Siberian identity may be associated with some risks; however, the research shows that Siberian identity is a powerful resource for regional development.
