The laboratory conducts research aimed at creating next-generation optical clocks with extremely high accuracy. Significant improvement of the metrological characteristics (stability, accuracy, sensitivity) of atomic clocks and magnetometers requires solving several important physical problems linked to the improvement of the quality of the parameters of the recorded resonances (such as amplitude, width, offset, asymmetry, etc..) and to their decreasing sensitivity to external perturbations. At the same time the laboratory conducts fundamental research, including the development of new spectroscopic methods and the calculation of various shifts (thermal, collisional, relativistic, etc.).
The laboratory partners with the Institute of Laser Physics of the SB RAS and The German National Metrology Institute.
