The Interdisciplinary Quantum Center (IQC) of Novosibirsk State University (NSU) gathers leading Russian experimental and theoretical research groups working in the area of optical quantum technologies in NSU and in the institutes of the Novosibirsk Research Center (NRC) of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS.) Today, quantum technologies are at the cutting edge of Science and Technology. They are characterized by an extremely high level of international competition, by the highest scientific and technical complexity of manipulating individual quantum systems. This was confirmed by the Nobel Prize in physics in 2012 and a number of Nobel Prizes in physics for the past 15 years of work expanding knowledge in the field of quantum technologies.
Quantum technologies provide new highly promising applications ranging from quantum information processing, quantum secure communication, ultra-precise clocks for navigation and fundamental research, ultrasensitive sensors for medical and defense applications, to new radiation sources for medicine, research and advanced technologies.
The laboratories of the IQC of NSU are leaders in their scientific fields in Russia and recognized by the international scientific community. They are also deeply integrated into the educational process, providing training to highly qualified specialists and participating in the development of new engineering education programs. The experimental facilities of the laboratories are unique and fit the current international standards. They are entirely located in Novosibirsk within NSU and the Research institutes of the NSC of the SB RAS. Laboratory staff of the Quantum Center are key organizers and participants of the most important scientific events in the field of photonics, held in Novosibirsk, in Russia and abroad.
The priority development areas of the IQC are:
- the extensive involvement of young fellows in research and the development of cutting edge quantum optical technologies;
- the extension of the range of research and development;
- the development of interdisciplinary projects and international cooperation.
