The department developed its own research tradition concentrating on the wide range of problems of moral and ethical philosophy and philosophical anthropology. Together with the traditional themes (moral relativism, natural law, utilitarianism, the ethics of virtue, theory of justice, the ethics of care, meta-ethics, ethics of the future, etc) and the philosophical aspects of the problem of anthropogenesis and interpersonal relations, the research places great emphasis on applied aspects and the development of applied ethics.
Our department is also known for preparing the Russian translations of the important texts: “After virtue” by A. MacIntyre, and “A theory of justice” by J. Rawls.
