The general laboratory research field is biophotonics, the interaction of electromagnetic (mainly optical) radiation with biological objects. We aim to the understanding of biological processes based on predictive physical description. This is the way to development of novel techniques for the system characterization and control. Single cells are our main research object, since they are the elementary structural and functional units of life. We are also working on the development of methods for the generation of biospecific compounds and activation of cellular response with high spatiotemporal resolution using photo-switchable molecules.
