The purpose for the laboratory creation is the intensification of research and educational activities of NSU in the field of energy and energy efficiency by means of theoretical, numerical and experimental studies of various physical processes and phenomena associated with the production and transformation of energy and their impact on ecology and environment. The main activity of the laboratory is computer modeling, combined with an intensive physical experiment of turbulent one- and two-phase flows, transportation processes and combustion.
The laboratory conducts not only basic research in the field of energy and energy efficiency, but also applied ones.
- One of the world's best non-contact optical techniques to measure instantaneous velocity and temperature fields in turbulent flames of premixed gas mixtures have been developed. They made it possible to detect large-scale spiral vortex structures and explore their influence on combustion processes.
- The modern model of the atmospheric boundary layer has been created. It describes atmospheric turbulence parameters as well as the distribution of impurities in the real topography of Krasnoyarsk.
- New modes and types of cavitation and types of instabilities in the hydro-profiles flow have been detected.
- Sustainability criteria of hydrogen combustion in the turbulent boundary layer have been obtained Moreover, mathematical models of ignition and combustion of mechanically activated microground coal gas mixtures have been developed.
In the laboratory the experiments are conducted to study turbulent combustion processes in the combustion chambers of modern gas turbines for power generation and transport, non-steady and cavitation processes in the flow path of hydro-systems. Hydrogen and aluminum fuel cells, whose power consumption is significantly higher than that of the common lithium-ion power source, are being developed. Using computer modeling to optimize energy equipment is very important for energy companies and businesses wishing to improve their efficiency and competitiveness on today's market.
