Novosibirsk State University and the National Supercomputer Center of Tianjin signed a protocol on cooperation for the creation of a Russian-Chinese research center to obtain breakthrough results in the field of science and technology through supercomputer technologies. Among the priority areas of cooperation is the use of supercomputer technologies to create a platform for new materials for various industries.
Mikhail Fedoruk, NSU Rector and Project Manager of the Lavrentiev Supercomputer Center commented,
We are very pleased to establish cooperation with one of the leading supercomputing centers for high performance computing. “Lavrentiev" plans to use the experience of our Chinese colleagues when creating its own strategy for the development of domestic supercomputer technologies. The points of contact between our projects are methods for high-performance computing in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
In addition to the areas of cooperation listed, they will also participate in national and international research programs and host conferences and seminars on topics of mutual interest. All this will be organized through the creation of highly professional interdisciplinary laboratory groups. Among the long-term plans is work in the field of personnel training and the creation of mechanisms for the exchange of knowledge and experience.
Tianjin Supercomputing Center Chief Scientist Meng Xiangfei discussed the importance of the project,
International cooperation between China and Russia in the field of supercomputing plays an important role in promoting international talent exchange, technical cooperation and transformation of supercomputing achievements, leveraging the advantages of both sides through close integration, and jointly promoting the innovative development of the world's supercomputing applications.
The parties expressed their mutual desire to organize long-term scientific and technical cooperation.
