The Interfax Group published their 17th annual National University Ranking (NUR) for 2026. Novosibirsk State University was ranked among the top five for the second year in a row. NSU's success is primarily due to improvements in the Education sub-rankings with NSU moving up fr om 13th place in 2025 to 10th in 2026 and Brand wh ere NSU moved up four positions from 13th in 2025 to 9th in 2026.
The NUR-2026 assessed the performance of 395 Russian universities. The ranking includes all of the country's prestigious universities: 29 national research universities, 10 federal universities, 33 flagship universities, and 133 universities participating in the Priority 2030 program.
NSU has traditionally distinguished itself with a high level of education. The University maintains a strong fundamental foundation while developing new, promising areas. In recent years, cutting-edge educational programs have emerged including "Applied Mathematics and Physics," "Medical Cybernetics," and "Applied Artificial Intelligence". Many programs are developed with the support of industrial partners, including large companies, that allows students from their first years to participate in projects aimed at solving industry challenges.
