Novosibirsk scientists, together with colleagues from Singapore, discovered a unique mechanism for plants to adapt to cold

An international team of researchers from NSU, the Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS, and the National University of Singapore discovered and explored a unique mechanism for plants to adapt to cold. To survive low temperatures and conserve their stem cells, plants sacrifice the roots of newly born cells. The article has been published in the high-ranking scientific journal CELL.

Scientists have successfully tested a well- known antibiotic as a neuroprotective agent for dementia in rats with accelerated aging

NSU Laboratory of Translational and Clinical Neuroscience organized together with the Research Institute of Physiology and Fundamental Medicine, both members of the NSU "Neuroscience in translational medicine" Strategic Academic Unit (SAU), observation of rats with genetically based accelerated aging. The rats were then exposed to a well-known antibiotic (ceftriaxone) and correction of cognitive impairment was observed.

The NSU Laboratory of Paleogene Genetics, part of the Strategic Academic Unit "Synthetic Biology", examined the bones of an ancient sheep that inhabited the territory of Siberia. The remains demonstrated that the physical condition of ancient animals was superior to modern animals.
