Novosibirsk State University received the maximum score and was the overall winner in the "TOP-IT START" competition category that was open to universities that had not previously participated in the competition. NSU will receive a grant of 200 million rubles over four years to implement a new Bachelor's degree program in "Industrial Software Engineering Technologies". This Program will train top-level IT specialists capable of working at a middle developer level after graduation. 38 applications were submitted for the "TOP-IT START" category, 34 of them met the competition requirements.
Mikhail Lavrentyev, Dean of the NSU Information Technology Department (FIT) and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, explained,
"TOP-IT START" is a federal program designed to meet the needs of large IT companies for training highly qualified IT specialists. The competition requires significant co-financing from the IT company, at least 30% of the grant. During the application preparation stage, we received confirmation from partners for approximately 50% co-financing. Our program's anchor partner is the Center for Financial Technologies (CFT). We have a long-standing, fruitful collaboration with CFT including a successful joint project, the SHIFT Laboratory (School of Information and Financial Technologies).
The new Program will enroll 100 students. Applicants must first be accepted into the Information Technology Department on either a state-funded or fee-paying basis. After admission, a competition will be conducted and the winners will be transferred to the new "Industrial Software Engineering Technologies" educational program.
