Novosibirsk State University and Jiangxi Normal University, renowned for its strong foundation in mathematics and engineering, have opened a joint institute, the Novosibirsk Institute of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence. An application for the establishment of this new educational institution was approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Student enrollment will begin in the 2026-27 academic year.
The new Institute will offer three undergraduate programs: Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, and Mechatronics and Robotics. NSU will rely on the educational capabilities and resources of the Mechanics and Mathematics and Information Technology Departments and the Institute of Intelligent Robotics. The planned enrollment for each program is 120 students, for a total of 360 in each class with 1,440 students matriculating overall in the four years of this Institute.
The Institute will offer a 3+1 training program where students will study for three years in China and the fourth year at NSU. During the first three years, at least 30% of the teaching load will be provided by NSU faculty who will travel to Jiangxi Normal University. Upon completion of their studies, students who successfully meet University requirements will receive degrees from both Chinese and Russian universities.
