NSU to Open Russian College at Ahvaz Jondishapur University of Medical Sciences

Novosibirsk State University and Ahvaz Jondishapur University of Medical Sciences (Islamic Republic of Iran) have signed a cooperation agreement. The parties have agreed to launch a joint program to train medical specialists in 2027. A second area of collaboration involves the establishment of a "Russian College" at the Iranian university, which is scheduled to open in October of this year. The agreement to establish this College will be signed during an Iranian delegation's visit to Novosibirsk to attend the "Technoprom-2026" international forum on technological development.

Evgeny Sagaydak, Head of the International Education Export Office at NSU, described the plan for the Russian College,

This will be a unique Iranian-Russian institution based at an Iranian university that will be distinguished by its status and governance. The college will prepare Iranian applicants for admission to medical degree programs at Russian higher education institutions. We plan to enroll approximately 100 students this academic year. Over the course of 12 months, students will study the Russian language and subjects essential for medical training. After completing this joint preparatory program, all graduates of the Russian College will be eligible to continue their studies in Russia.

Iran is currently among the top five countries with the largest number of students at NSU. "General Medicine" is the most popular field of study for Iranian students. The Ahvaz Jondishapur University of Medical Sciences will also establish an Iranian Center at NSU. This will offer Persian language courses and promote Iranian culture. The Center is expected to begin operations in the autumn of 2026.
