Novosibirsk, the capital of Siberia, will host the first international forum, "Russia. Novosibirsk. China." in August.  Novosibirsk State University was the Forum’s initiator that will focus on developing cooperation between the two countries in education, business, science, and innovation. The event is included in the 2026-2027 Key Events Plan for the Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in Education and is also a satellite event for the Technoprom-2026 International Forum for Technological Development. The program will combine the two key spheres of "Education" and "Business. Science. Innovation."

Evgeny Sagaydak, Head of the Education Export Department at NSU, described four major points,

Firstly, this is a commemorative event dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the first Sino-Russian Institute in Russia that was established by NSU and Heilongjiang University in 2011. Secondly, it is the grand opening of the second Sino-Russian Institute, that was approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education last year. In the 2026/27 academic year, we will have the first cohort of 240 students in new KRI undergraduate programs in chemistry, biology, mathematics, and robotics. Third, an agreement to establish the Association of Russian and Chinese Universities Joint Institutes will be signed at the Forum. Currently, there are 31 joint institutes. Fourth, we will hold a separate symposium on improving the quality of joint training. The first such event was held in Harbin in November 2025.

Memoranda of cooperation between the Ministry of Education of the Novosibirsk Region and the Departments in Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Hubei Provinces will also be signed at the Forum. A roadmap plan for joint activities will accompany each memorandum. The second track of the Forum will be dedicated to the creation of a business platform for exchanging ideas, finding partners, and initiating new projects. Particular attention will be paid to developments in innovative, high-tech, and knowledge-intensive industries. This platform is designed to establish contacts with business partners, accelerate the transfer of developments, reduce costs, and facilitate effective collaboration in implementing developments in the real economy.
