From July 7 to 11, NSU hosted the 24th annual international conference Mathematical Optimization Theory and Operations Research (MOTOR 2025), which is the most authoritative scientific event in the field of theory and methods of mathematical optimization and operations research held in Russia. Leading universities and mathematical institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences took part in organizing and holding the conferences. The Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok is one of the main organizers and sponsors of this event. 185 reports were heard, including 8 plenary reports from 8 countries and 15 cities of Russia.
The conference topics included both fundamental problems of optimization theory, operations research, game theory, mathematical economics, data analysis and computational complexity, as well as many applied aspects, which made it possible to expand and strengthen the ties of Russian scientists with the business community of the Russian Federation and foreign firms. More than half of the participants were young scientists and graduate students. During the conference, they had the opportunity not only to present their results, but also to listen to review lectures (Tutorials), to which famous experts were invited.
During the conference, special sessions, so-called round tables, were held, to which business representatives were invited - Gazpromneft, BIA-Technologies, etc., and current problems in the economy, industry, and the application of scientific achievements to solve real problems were discussed.
Traditionally, the conference held a competition for solutions to industrial problems, presented in the form of challenges. Conference participants offered their creative solutions. At the final session, the main results were summed up and the winners of the competitions for the best theoretical work, the best applied work, and the best work of young scientists were announced. Special attention was paid to the new Russian-Chinese Foundation for Applied Research under the auspices of Peking University and Lomonosov Moscow State University.
