From October 8 to 10, a delegation from the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics of NSU and the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok visited Changsha (Hunan Republic, China) to hold a series of working meetings with the National Defense University of Science and Technology of the People's Liberation Army of China and the Kaiyuan International Mathematical Institute.
The delegation included Igor V. Marchuk (Dean of the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics, Director of MCA), Timur R. Nasybullov (Deputy Dean of the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics for Development, Deputy Director of MCA for Science), Sergey S. Ospichev (Deputy Director of the MCA for Work with Industrial Partners), Darya V. Lytkina (Deputy Dean of the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics for the second year students) and Inessa I. Matveeva (Head of the Research Group "Differential Equations and Dynamic Systems" of the MCA).
During the working meetings, the possibilities of cooperation between the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok and the International Institute for Mathematical Research Changsha in the field of scientific research and development, educational projects and the organization of joint events were discussed.
"The meetings were very productive. We discussed the main areas of work of our centers, as well as possible approaches to building partnerships. We talked about the possibility of organizing joint research work, and also planned to jointly hold some scientific and educational events. We also analyzed the experience gained last year in jointly holding the Big Mathematical Workshop, made adjustments, and planned to repeat this joint event next year. I hope that through the International Institute for Mathematical Research Changsha we will be able to attract more Chinese universities to participate in the GMM," says Igor V. Marchuk, Dean of the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics of NSU, Director of the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok.
