During their visit to the Novosibirsk National Research State University (NSU), Prime Minister
Mikhail Mishustin and Head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science
Valery Falkov were introduced to the university development program and the work of the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok (MCA).
MCA director
Evgeny Vdovin presented his vision of a new model for organizing research and development to the Prime Minister. The main conditions for its implementation are the direct involvement of all parties (researchers, customers, executors) in the communication process and activities, the ability to enter the project and subject area quickly, and a prompt acquisition of experimental prototypes. This model was tested within the framework of
the First Workshop of the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok.
The introduction of this approach creates an environment in which talented students, postgraduates, researchers, and industry representatives jointly plan and implement large-scale projects. At the moment, the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok begins to work according to the presented scheme with several industrial partners, scientific institutes, and educational organizations on large-scale interdisciplinary problems. Such projects help attract young specialists, including through transfer from companies directly to the team of the Center.
The meeting also touched upon the preparation of the
International Mathematical Congress and put forward a proposal that 2023 could be
"The Year of Mathematics".
