"Spring School in Advanced Probability 2020" was held online from April 9 to May 21

Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok facilitated a scientific online school on modern problems of probability theory for students and young researchers.

The school consisted of two lecture courses from renowned scientists from Hariot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland: professor Sergey Foss and young scientist Dr. Fraser Daly.

Three-lecture course read by Prof. Foss introduced participants to coupling-convergence of random values and Thorisson's theorems, as well as to Borovkov's method of updates and method of precise modeling of selection from an unknown stationary distribution of Markov chain. Dr. Daly read a four-lecture course on Stein's method, from which the audience learned core principals, history and advantages of this method.

Online seminars were held weekly and let all participating students and researchers discuss the given material. After the epidemiological situation is stable the organizers plan on continuing the scientific school offline. You can learn more about the school on the designated website.
