On September 16, the work of the "Beijing-Novosibirsk seminar on geometry and mathematical physics" resumes

The Mathematical center in Akademgorodok invites you to take part in the "Beijing-Novosibirsk seminar on geometry and mathematical physics" on September 16 at 4 pm Novosibirsk time (UTC+7).
The seminar's heads: A. E. Mironov, I. A. Taimanov, Huijun Fan, Youjin Zhang.

During the seminar Sergey Tsarev (Siberian Federal University, Krasnoyarsk) will present his talk "Integration of algebraic functions, polynomial approximation, nonclassical boundary problems and Poncelet-type theorems".

In this review talk we expose remarkably tight relations between the four topics mentioned in the title. Starting from the paper by H.Abel published in 1826 and subsequent results of Chebyshev and Zolotarev we finish at the recent results by Burskii, Zhedanov, Malyshev (et al.)  devoted to algorithmic decidability of some identities for the values of the Weierstrass P-function, unexpected elementary geometric applications and many, many more hidden equivalences in seemingly unrelated areas of analysis, modern computer algebra and geometry.

To take part, please, on September 16 after 3:45 pm Novosibirsk time (UTC+7) connect to the Zoom conference via this link: https://zoom.com.cn/j/87816790824?pwd=aCthSzVJdWF5UVM5VVVlWUw3R2UrZz09
You can also connect manually in the Zoom app using the Conference ID: 878 1679 0824 (password: 804487).

Please pay attention to the following rules of attending an online seminar:
  • As a security measure, it is highly advisable to connect using your real name.
  • You are free to join the discussion after the end of a talk. However, during a speech please keep your microphone turned off.
