A delegation from the Republic of Indonesia visited NSU. The delegation was headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation Mr. Jose Antonio Morato Tavares. Rector of Novosibirsk State University and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Fedoruk welcomed the group. In his welcoming speech, Fedoruk emphasized that expanding cooperation with the Republic of Indonesia in the educational and cultural spheres is part of the general vector for developing relations between the Novosibirsk Region and the largest island state in Southeast Asia.

As for strengthening our cooperation in the field of education, we are interested in specialties related to science, technology, and mathematics. We know that Russia is very strong in these subject areas. The purpose of our visit to Novosibirsk State University is to get acquainted with the University and increase the number of students sent to study in Russia.
NSU currently has four students from the Republic of Indonesia. Two students are in the General Medicine program at the Medicine and Psychology Department, one in the Natural Sciences Department, and one in the Mechanics and Mathematics Department. During the visit to NSU, the students met with the Ambassador and shared their impressions of studying at the University.
