The NSU team came home with medals from the International Mathematical Olympiad

Students from Novosibirsk State University won medals at the Nordic Country (NCUMC) Universities Mathematical Olympiad in St. Petersburg. For the first time the NSU team results rose to being awarded second place in the general rating.

The Olympiad took place from 22 to 24 April at the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO University). The Olympiad is designed for all students who are interested in mathematics, and its goal is to increase interest in mathematical sciences.

About one hundred students from 21 universities in Russia, Argentina, Poland, Switzerland and Estonia participated in the Olympiad. NSU was represented by a team of seven students from three faculties. When the final results were announced, all NSU team members received medals. MMF students Alexey Obauuhov, Alexey Miloserdov and Igor Fedorov won gold medals.
