Novosibirsk State University and Chongqing University, one of the leading universities in China, will open a joint Physics educational program in September 2025. The Chinese Ministry of Education approved the application submitted by the universities. This will be Chongqing University’s first joint program with a Russian university. The pilot year will include 60 students with the prospect of increasing to 120 students in the future.
This is a Bachelor’s program that will be conducted according to the 3+1 format with students studying at Chongqing University for three years. Student will have two options for their fourth year, to continue their studies in China or in Russia. Evgeny Sagaydak, Head of the NSU Education Export Department, added, “At least 30% of the subjects in the curriculum will be taught in person by teachers at the NSU Physics Department who will relocate to Chongqing University for the new academic year”.
In November 2024, the two universities opened a joint center for fundamental research in physics, mathematics, and mechanics. NSU and Chongqing University are also discussing the creation of a Master's program in Physics so that students can continue on with their education. In the future, NSU does not rule out the possibility of opening joint Bachelor's programs in other areas of specialization.
