NSU Students Participate in Italian Universiade 2023

In March, the Association of Teachers of Foreign Languages (Italy) Universiade 2023, the Fifth Italian Universiade, took place in Novosibirsk. The event was conducted with the support of the Italian Center at the NSU Institute for the Humanities and included more than 60 students from the region who study Italian. Overall, more than 900 Russian-speaking students from 16 cities in Russia, Belarus, Moldova, and Uzbekistan participated in the competition.

Olga Kuznetsova, Director of the NSU Italian Center, described the event,

This is the first year Novosibirsk City participated and the NSU Italian Center helped to organize the Universiade. We have good relations with the Italian language teachers at the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University so we were able to attract students from both universities to participate in the competition. Next year, if we are regional coordinators for the Universiade and continue to cooperate with the Association that provides the competition tasks, we will invite students at other Novosibirsk universities to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in the Italian language.

Students at the NSU HI (Linguistics and Philology programs) successfully demonstrated their knowledge of the language at the Universiade. 49 people achieved results with levels from A2 to C1 and received certificates they can include in their portfolios to participate in scholarship competitions and for employment purposes. Egor Logunov, a fourth-year student, received the highest score in Novosibirsk with 99 points out of 100 at the C1 level.

Another 10 students scored 90 or more points:

  • Stanislav Karamshuk (С1),
  • Ekaterina Maryushkina (С1),
  • Julia Zakharova (B1),
  • Sofia Nikonova (B1),
