NSU Hosts AI Summer School for International Students

From August 14 to August 26, the NSU Artificial Intelligence Summer School will take place at Novosibirsk State University with the participation of students from China. The event is designed to support the adaptation of foreign students to the University environment and introduce them to the language and culture of Russia. The event is organized by the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics and the NSU Education Export Department.

Evgeny Pavlovsky, Head of the School and Head of the NSU Laboratory for Streaming Data Analytics and Machine Learning, explained that the program includes lectures and workshops from NSU MMD teachers on numerous topics: Python programming, neural networks, machine learning, IT project life cycle, the use of artificial intelligence in medicine, etc. One of the organizers of the School emphasized that participants will work on their own projects, which the teams will have to submit for defense at the end of the training. 

An extensive excursion program is provided for foreign students. MMD teachers will conduct a tour of the Department and describe the areas of study. Participants will also take an introductory tour of Akademgorodok, visit the Novosibirsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Central Siberian Botanical Garden, and the Novosibirsk Zoo. Chinese students will have full-fledged cultural immersion, stressed Evgeny Sagaydak, Head of the Education Export Department at NSU. After the School, some of the participants may be inspired to consider NSU as a future place to study for their MA.
