NSU Enters Top 10 Russian Universities for International Students

The 2025 Study Abroad Aide ranking of 8,536 universities for their appeal to international students added 8 countries for evaluation this year to ensure diversity and a broader overview of promising universities. NSU increased its positions two places and is ranked 8th in Russia, the highest rating for a regional university.

Overall, three universities in the Siberian region entered the top thousand universities. In the world ranking, Novosibirsk State University is 641st, Tomsk State University ranks 688th, and Tomsk Polytechnic University ranks 836th.

The ranking is based on several criteria including the university's academic reputation, ability to provide a high level of education, conditions for research, the number of international students, the total number of students and its dynamic.

Evgeny Sagaydak, Head of the NSU Education Export Department, noted,

International cooperation is an important aspect of NSU's activities. Systematic work is underway to find new formats and mechanisms for interuniversity cooperation with leading universities in priority countries for NSU and the Novosibirsk Region.

International cooperation (internationalization) is one of the University's strengths. This is reflected, in the Interfax ranking released in June 2024 where NSU ranks 2nd in this category. NSU has 126 partner universities in 24 countries and 1,700 international students from 60 countries are studying at the University. NSU also has 25 joint educational programs with leading universities around the world. Currently, 815 foreign students are studying in the Natural Sciences at NSU.
