The Times Higher Education journal published it’s THE World Reputation Rankings 2020. Novosibirsk State University improved its position rising to the 101-125 range.

NSU shares 2-3rd place for a Russian university with the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Moscow State University was #1 in Russia and 37th place in the world, 4th and 5th places were taken by St. Petersburg State University (range 126–150) and the Higher School of Economics (range 151–175).

NSU Rector Mikhail Fedoruk talked about the rating,

The Reputation Ranking is an important assessment of our University's work because the academic community recognizes the quality of our education and science. I think a significant role in achieving this rating is that NSU graduates work in the best universities and research laboratories around the world. This represents one of the largest diasporas.

THE Reputation rating methodology is based on their primary institutional rating system. It differs in the period considered (restricted to current) and academic experts are weighted with a double coefficient while the weight of Russian and foreign experts does not differ. The survey was conducted November 2019 to February 2020 by Elsevier for THE. It included feedback by 11,004 experts from 132 countries.
