The new NSU dormitories are open for occupancy. The dormitories were part of the first stage of the modern NSU campus that was built within the framework of the "Science and Universities" National Project. The complex of new dormitories is designed to accommodate 690 NSU students, postgraduates, and residents. They are distinguished by a fundamentally different level of comfort with built-in equipment, kitchens-living rooms, laundries, and an entrance equipped for people with disabilities. The dormitories were fully occupied by the end of September.
Sergey Gusev, Head of the NSU Student Dormitory Department, described the new accommodations,
Firstly, the new dormitories have single rooms. Secondly, the place for cooking is not a kitchen in its usual form, but a full-fledged living room where you can chat with friends and relax. The kitchen-living rooms have a cooking area that is equipped with hoods, tables, chairs, poufs, sofas, and a TV. Thirdly, all the appliances in the new dormitories are built-in. Fourthly, the rooms have more functional beds with additional storage space, computer chairs, and poufs. Fifthly, there are showers and toilets in each room.
Construction for the first stage of the modern NSU campus was completed in May 2024. The second stage of the facilities is currently under construction. This includes an auditorium building, an educational and scientific center for the NSU Institute of Medicine and Medical Technologies, and an NSU research center. Their construction readiness is 72.5%, 17.4% and 14.7%, respectively.
