The International Chemistry Olympiad at Magtymguly Turkmen State University was held in December in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan). More than 200 students from leading universities participated. Participants included 80 students from 23 universities in 12 foreign countries including China, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
The Olympiad included individual and team competitions. Students specializing in Chemistry (category A) and students in other fields of study (category B) competed. Participants had to solve complex theoretical and practical problems in inorganic and physical chemistry and organic and analytical chemistry.
In Category A, 65 awards were distributed with 13 First, 20 Second, and 32 Third places. The gold medal winners were students at Magtymguly Turkmen State University, NSU, Kazan Federal University, Moscow State University, People’s Friendship University of Russia, and Belarusian State University.
