Yandex and JetBrains are opening a Novosibirsk Computer Science Center. This is a training center for students, graduate students and university graduates, who want to receive additional education in the field of computer science. Training in the center is free, classes will begin in September.
In the Novosibirsk Computer Science Center you can complete full-time two-year courses in two areas: data analysis and software development. Students will learn algorithms and data structures, machine learning, programming in popular languages and other areas of computer science. Every six months, students will be required to defend projects solving research or engineering problems.
The Computer Science Center is based at the School for Data Analysis (SDA), which has been operating at Novosibirsk State University since 2013. Classes will take place in the university building on weekday evenings and on Saturdays. They will be led by SDA teachers from Yandex and NSU, as well as JetBrains specialists.
Recruitment for students in the Computer Science Center has already begun. To apply, you had to fill out a questionnaire on the Center's website before April 16. Applicants are required to pass several introductory tests: an online test in mathematics and programming basics, a distance exam in the same disciplines and an interview.
Novosibirsk became the second Russian city with a Computer Science Center. In 2011, a similar center was opened in St. Petersburg. Yandex and NSU have been cooperating since 2013. In September 2017, a joint Yandex and NSU master's program will be launched.
