An Artificial Intelligence Alliance published the first ranking of Russian universities training specialists in AI. Novosibirsk State University took first place among universities in the Siberian Federal District, entered the C++ group, and the TOP-15 best universities in the country in this field.
The Alliance assessment is based on four criteria: the demand for graduates, the relevance of the AI training provided, the educational environment, and partnerships and external interactions. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation supported the methodology.
Novosibirsk State University trains a wide range of specialists in the most dynamically developing IT areas including artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc. Now almost all departments have subjects where AI is presented. In 2023, the NSU Institute of Intelligent Robotics specializing in deep machine learning was established.
NSU has been actively conducting research work in the field of artificial intelligence for several years. The knowledge and skills accumulated by the University are embodied in the AI Research Center project. NSU won a government grant to create the Center at the end of last year and became one of six universities supported in the second wave. The NSU AI Center, together with industrial partners, specializes in developing "smart city" technologies that will first be implemented in the new NSU campus, and will later be replicated in the Novosibirsk Region, and other regions of Russia.
