The Digital Economy Autonomous Non-Profit Organization published the results of a study to identify leading universities in the digital economy. The research is based on the opinions of leading IT and technology companies. The "Ranking of Digital Economy Universities" features leading Russian universities offering IT programs at the undergraduate and specialist levels. Novosibirsk National Research State University (NSU) is one of the leaders in regional universities group.
NSU's high ranking is due to its achievements in developing IT fields. Currently, IT programs are offered at NSU's Information Technology Department, Mechanics and Mathematics Department, the Institute of Intelligent Robotics, and the Humanities Institute. In addition, the University offers a number of educational programs supported by leading IT companies including Yandex.Education and Sber. Last year, NSU won a federal competition and launched a new program to train top specialists in "Applied Artificial Intelligence," with the T1 holding company as its anchor industrial partner. More than 170 students from over 25 Russian regions are enrolled.
The University also implements innovative educational formats. For example, NSU's Information Technology Department established four educational and research laboratories in collaboration with leading IT companies—SberLab-NSU, Shift Lab, YADRO Laboratory, and PGLab. During their studies, students participate in projects and solve actual business problems. NSU also hosts annual hackathons and bootcamps, attended by dozens of students from different departments.
