The new Specialized Educational Scientific Center NSU (SESC/Physics and Mathematics School) building is one of the facilities in the first stage of the NSU world-class campus construction. Recently, installation of equipment and furniture began in the chemistry, biology, and physics laboratories. All the equipment is manufactured domestically. Other first stage buildings are a leisure center and two dormitories
The new SESC NSU is a five-story building with classrooms and administrative offices located on floors 1-3 and the laboratories on the 4th and 5th floors. There will be 9 laboratories in the building, some are equipped with specialized systems to supply of water, gas, compressed air, and electricity. They will have everything necessary to conduct basic and advanced level laboratory work in physics, chemistry, and biology. The school children will have an opportunity to master skills in working with modern laboratory equipment, conducting independent design and research work, and experiments.
Pavel Demakov, Senior Lecturer SESC NSU Chemistry Department, explained,
Three new large laboratories will greatly increase our capabilities in everything related to practical chemistry. We will be able to conduct more general educational laboratory work and engage even more intensively in Olympiad preparation during school hours and for special events such as summer Olympiad preparation and Summer School. Laboratory instruments will also be updated, which is important for the students who conduct research work as part of special courses or their own projects.
The new building creates the most modern spaces for working with gifted students. It provides several types of lecture halls, chemistry, physics, engineering, and biological laboratories, workshops, linguistic and computer classes, as well as equipped recreational areas for self-study and group work. From the educational building, students will be able to get to the leisure center via an underground passage.
Opening of the first stage NSU campus buildings is planned for this year. On September 1, SESC NSU students will begin classes in the new school building.
