Atrium Completed and Glass Pyramid Roof Installed at New NSU Classroom Building

The construction of the atrium was completed and a glass roof was installed on the new NSU classroom building. This construction is part of the second stage of the NSU world-class campus, which is being built within the framework of the “Science and Universities” national project.

The installation of structures for a warm overhead passageway is also under construction. This will connect the building with the existing NSU academic building. The facility is 27% technically ready for the second stage of construction. The campus construction is on schedule with all planned work taking place during the New Year holidays.

The five-story building has an area of more than 16,300 sq.m. and will accommodate 2,000 students. The building includes a student project center and a scientific library with more than 2 million books. It will also house four auditoriums providing seating for 150, 200, 300, and 400 people. The 400-seat auditorium will be one of the largest among Novosibirsk universities.

The atrium is an important element of the building’s architecture as this is a central open area illuminated through a skylight (glass roof). Such a large open space inside the building makes the interior lighter and brighter. The glass roof is in the shape of a pyramid.

NSU Rector Mikhail Fedoruk noted,

The new NSU campus will create more comfortable conditions for student learning and project activities. The University will double the number of classrooms, which is important for organizing the educational process. Also, by 2030, we will increase the number of students 1.4 times from today’s 8,500 to 12,000 and we will more actively develop network educational programs together with leading universities from other regions.
