Representatives of Novosibirsk State University and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology discussed possible cooperation

Novosibirsk State University was visited by a delegation from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology headed by President Wang Ming Tau. The diplomats met with Novosibirsk State University representatives to outline opportunities for cooperation.

Vice-Rector for Science Dmitry Churkin made a presentation about the University during which he taled about NSU’s characteristics and advanced research programs.  As the President of the Academy, Mr. Wang Ming Tau commented that NSU and the Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology have much in common, both universities are closely integrated into national academic structures, and most of the faculty are scientific employees at academic institutes. The guests were especially interested in the possibilities of cooperation in the field of exact and natural sciences.

According to Deputy Dean of the Department of Information Technology for Research, Alexei Romanenko and Deputy Head of the Geological and Geophysical Department (GGD,) Nikolay Matushkin, promising areas may include English-language Master’s programs and summer schools, as well as internships.  As an internship example, they talked about field research trips for students in the GGD to Altai, Khakassia and the Arctic.  A student from Vietnam currently studies in the Russian-language postgraduate course on Earth Sciences. Another relevant area of ​​interaction discussed by the representatives from both countries, was space technology after a presentation by Yuri Prokopiev, Head of the NSU Laboratory for Space Exploration.
