NSU Signs Tripartite Agreement to Establish Center for Neurobiology and Neurorehabilitation

The signing of an agreement to create an interdisciplinary, international center for the development of fundamental and translational neurology took place as part of a celebration to mark the start of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) academic year and the opening of a new campus institute. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev took part in the ceremony where the agreement to open the Center was signed by Novosibirsk State University, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology and the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, USA).

Russia was represented by Andrey Pokrovsky , Director of the NSU V. Zelman Institute of Medicine and Psychology, Alexander Kuleshov, Rector of Skoltech, and Charles Liu, Director of the University of Southern California Center for Neurorestoration, signed on behalf of NSU.

The Center will develop new tools and methods to restore damaged or degrading brain functions, maintain the cognitive functions of a healthy brain, and treat epilepsy, Alzheimer, and other diseases. In addition to research, the Center for Neurobiology and Neurorehabilitation will take an active part in developing educational and training programs. This will include creating Master's and Doctoral programs, refresher courses for doctors, medical workers, representatives of medical companies, and open online courses.
