OpenBio, a complex of events dedicated to the development of business in the field of life sciences, opened on October 24th in Koltsovo.
From October 24 to 26 a business forum, a conference for molecular biologists, biotechnologists and virologists, an exhibition of industrial companies, and a children's scientific track were included.
Annually, the OpenBio platform attracts more than 500 experts, representatives of business, science, development institutions, investment funds, government representatives and representatives from the innovation support infrastructure.
NSU will be represented by students and scientists. Of special note is Sergei Netyosov, Head of the Laboratory of Bionanotechnology, Microbiology and Virology at the NSU Department of Natural Sciences and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He will speak at the opening of the conference, and will also be an expert during the discussion session.
On the agenda at the forum were advanced technology and market trends, the practice of investing in "bio-projects", the creation of market products, and serious issues related to intellectual property protection.
Experts who will be involved in the discussion of protection and capitalization of intellectual rights included: Grigory Senchenya, Adviser to the Head of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), Ruben Germakyan, patent attorney at the Russian representative office of Gowling WLG; Maria Pustovalova, Head of the Biomed Division at the Skolkovo Intellectual Property Center, Ekaterina Vesnina, an expert at the Institute for Financial Development of Business, Victoria Filyurina, the leading IP partner at BIOCAD and RF Patent Attorney.
Experts on commercialization and investment included: Alexey Grinenko, Investment Manager at the Internet Initiatives Development Fund for the seed stage and Round A, Yuri Chirgadze, Project Manager at the Primer Capital Investment Fund, Anna Nenakhova, Director for Investments VEB Innovations, Vitalina Dzutseva Head of Clinical Research at Icon Holding and market expert, Pavel Okhonin Deputy Director of the Novosibirsk office of Ernst & Young and Eduard Schmidt, accelerator tracker at the Internet Initiatives Development Fund and expert on Customer Development.
Representatives from Russian regions, as well as France, USA, Spain, Great Britain, Sweden, Belgium, Israel and CIS countries took part in the conference and business forum.
