UNESCO lectures are for students, teachers, and anyone else interested in the past and present of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), or the development of the "Belt and Road Initiative". Specialists from the Institute of Foreign Languages, the Law Institute and the Xian Jiaotong University Humanities Institute will conduct lectures.
The lecture subjects include an historical review of China, the joint role of China and Russia in the creation of a new world order, the protection and development of the cultural heritage of cities using examples from China and Russia, and the prospects and possibilities for the Belt and Road Initiative.
Di Dihai, Director of Distance Education at Xian Jiaotong University described the course,
The main goal of the course is to ensure the interaction of representatives from different countries along the Silk Road. In other countries the program is designed to deepen mutual understanding primarily among engineers, for NSU, we are primarily conducting lectures in humanities that are coordinated with the "Confucius Institute".
Julia Azarenko, the lectures organizer and Director of Confucius Institute at NSU, provided information about the broader partnership between universities,
This lecture course is only the first part of the "Heritage Forum” that will take place September-October 2018. The event was developed to strengthen international relations and joint scientific activity. For NSU students, this is also an opportunity to understand China better.
To achieve these goals, scientific conferences with Chinese colleagues are held annually at NSU, and students from the PRC visit the University for the Interweek International Festival.
The organizers announced that more than 50 people enrolled in the lecture course, including 8 teachers. This count does not include volunteers. Participants who attend more than 80% of the lectures will receive a certificate from the UNESCO sanctioned International Center for Engineering Knowledge and Technology at Xian Jiaotong University and the Confucius Institute at NSU. This certificate will allow them to get special training based on a list of lectures in the development of engineering, science and technology in the Silk Road countries.
