An article by NSU scientists was included in the list of the most cited articles in the journal «Advances in Optics and Photonics»

An article by physics-scientists at Novosibirsk State University was included in the top ten most cited articles by the prestigious journal Advances in Optics and Photonics.

The Optical Society of America (OSA) regularly publishes lists of the most cited works from its journals. Among the OSA journals, «Advances in Optics and Photonics» has the greatest impact factor (more than 12). In 2015, scientists from Novosibirsk State University and the SB RAS Institute of Automation and Electrometry (Dmitry Churkin, Ilya Vatnik, Yevgeny Podivilov, Sergei Babin and Sergei Turitsyn), together with their English and Chinese colleagues, published their review article «Recent advances in fundamentals and applications of random Fiber lasers » in this journal.

“Our article is devoted to a review of the latest advances in the field of random fiber lasers. Since 2010, when we first demonstrated a random fiber laser in our work in Nature Photonics, there has been explosive growth in the number of studies devoted to these types of lasers. Research does not fade. This is connected, among other things, to a wide range of possible applications for random fiber lasers. Therefore, our last review was in demand”, says the first author of the article Dmitry Churkin, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Vice-Rector for research at NSU and the Head of the NSU laboratory of fiber lasers.

After its publication, the scientists survey work became popular in the scientific community: several times it was on the list of the most frequently downloaded articles in the journal. In March 2017, the article was included in the top ten most frequently cited works published during the last two years in the journal «Advances in Optics and Photonics».
