The second stage of the Russian Association of Foreign Students Forum, «We are United by Russia», took place in Moscow at the beginning of December. For three days, 50 students fr om 32 countries and 30 Russian universities exchanged experience, knowledge, and emotions to foster closer educational, scientific, and cultural ties. Abdulrahman Al-Mohammed from Iraq represented NSU. He is the Deputy President of the Novosibirsk Branch of the Russian Association of Foreign Students and a 6th year student of the V. Zelman Institute for Medicine and Psychology.
— For me beside representing my university (NSU) and the city of Novosibirsk, as my role as the first vice president of the association of International students in Novosibirsk, I was confident that this forum will offer me the chance to expand my network with people whom just like me are driven to make an impact on the world. Wh ere we can share good practices, collaborate together to solve and overcome current problems, and to make long lasting friendships. So in fact at the forum I was able to establish contact with different important representatives from the Ministry of higher education, the Ministry of foreign affairs, and students from the other 30 universities participating in the forum, — commented Abdulrahman.
The Forum’s primary goals are to develop the leadership potential of foreign students and strengthen educational, scientific, and cultural cooperation between Russian higher educational institutions. During the Forum, participants exchanged experience and knowledge on the specifics of teamwork, the need to develop soft skills, the opportunities for helping foreign students adapt through volunteering, etc. There were also several cultural immersion master classes including «Household and Family Talisman Dolls», «Siberian Rosette», «Painting on Wood» and «Hamsa».
— I was really glad to participate in such a successful event. In such a short period of time I managed to give and get a lot of experience, knowledge, and pleasant memories. Can`t wait to attend the next forum! — added student.
