NSU is opening a new department in partnership with OCSiAl

In September the Department of Nanocomposite Materials, created jointly with OCSiAl (the world leader in the production of single-walled carbon nanotubes), will open at Novosibirsk State University.

“The selection of 5-10 candidates will be conducted by the Company. The development of the curriculum is not yet complete. In addition to basic scientific courses, students will also have course in entrepreneurship. Thus, the curriculum will include project management, processes, and systems engineering,” explained Levan Tatunashvili, advisor to NSU’s Rector on the transfer of technology and commercialization.

The curriculum is designed for Masters students. The Department of Nanocomposite Materials was established to address a shortage of qualified personnel in the field of innovative materials science. The Head of the Department will be Academician Mikhail Predtechensky, author of the technology of industrial synthesis of single-walled carbon nanotubes.

The Department will open a new area of study, the first within the framework of a project to create the Novosibirsk State University Technology Institute. Levan Tatunashvili stressed that in the near future there may be other departments established for the Institute that will also be created with partners.
