NSU Cooperates with Xi’an Jiaotong University to Make Ceramic Transformers

Novosibirsk State University and Shanghai research institute, which is a part of Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, have decided to launch a mirror laboratory to develop ceramic transformers. The Agreement was signed on 26 December, 2016.

According to the Agreement, both universities are to found two mirror laboratories to do research on the ways of applying ceramics to aluminum wires. The project aims at developing a commercial prototype of a transformer with ceramic insulation and efficient technology for its mass production. Ultimately, the transformers are to enter the international as well as Chinese markets.

Levan Tatunashvili, the NSU’s Rector’s adviser on transferring technologies and communications, explains that the high positions of Xi’an Jiaotong University for energetics in world university rankings (8th place in the world) opens new prospects for NSU practices to be transferred worldwide.

—The mirror laboratory at NSU is just the first step. We are discussing a wide range of projects in the fields of nanomaterials, bio- and smart technologies, etc.
