The 8th Workshop on «Algebraic Graph Theory and its Applications» took place in March

Traditionally, in the first week of March, the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok holds a workshop on algebraic graph theory and its applications. This year the workshop was co-organized by the Sino-Russian Mathematics Center and the Three Gorges Mathematical Research Center.

The 8th Workshop was attended by researchers from Russia, China, Japan, the USA and the UK, including ones from Russian and Chinese mathematical centers.

The first day of the workshop was devoted to new results in extremal theory of Peisert-type graphs, as well as spectral properties of some new highly regular graphs. Especially notable was the talk by Sergey Goryainov (Hebei Normal University, China) in which a large program of ongoing research on Peisert graphs was announced.

The second day was devoted to new constructions of distance-regular graphs and strongly regular graphs. In particular, Vladislav Kabanov (Krasovskii Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics UB RAS, Yekaterinburg, Russia) proposed a new approach to constructing strongly regular graphs based on regular decomposition. This approach generalizes the construction proposed in 2002 by Dmitry Fon-der-Flaass.

On the third day of the workshop, a talk by Akihiro Munemasa (Tohoku University, Japan) considered remotely regular circulants, for which their characterization was obtained for the first time. The proof of the main result, among other things, is based on the early results of Ilia Ponomarenko (POMI, St. Petersburg), who made another report at the workshop.

The last day of the workshop included presentations by participants from Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Moscow and Ichan, the topics of which were based on group-theoretic methods in algebraic graph theory. In particular, a characterization of graphs arising on solvable groups was presented in a paper by Yong Yang (China Three Gorges University, China; Texas State University, USA).
