MCA delegation took part in the II Congress of Young Scientists

On December 1–3, 2022, the Second Congress of Young Scientists was held in the Sirius Park of Science and Art in Russia. The Congress was attended by over 4,000 professionals fr om over 40 countries. Among them are students and young scientists fr om Russia, Austria, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, India, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, France and other countries. This event has become one of the key events of 2022 as part of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia.

Fr om the Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok, a small delegation of young researchers, postgraduates and students took part in the Congress. In addition to participating in panel discussions and communicating with young scientists, technology entrepreneurs and representatives of leading scientific and educational centers in Russia, two representatives of the MCA — Timur R. Nasybullov and Sergey S. Ospichev — made presentations at the Congress.

Timur spoke at the discussion platform "Mathematical Sciences: Educational and Research Mission", wh ere representatives of the Mathematical Centers of Russia spoke about their unique experience of interaction between the centers and talented youth (schoolchildren, students), as well as about joint activities with foreign scientific and educational organizations. At this meeting, colleagues highlighted the role of the MCA in building constructive relations between the centers.

Sergey spoke at the round table "Tsunamis, volcanoes, hot springs, potatoes, snow and ecology — scientific solutions for Kamchatka", wh ere he spoke about the "Tsunami Data Hub" project, on which the MCA is working together with the government of the Kamchatka Region. The essence of the project is to use modern mathematical methods for tsunami forecasting. The implementation of this project will make it possible to control natural risks associated with active volcanoes and tsunamis, which will contribute to the development of the Kamchatka Territory.

In addition, the MCA delegation took part in a meeting of young researchers with the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey A. Travnikov, wh ere they touched upon the topic of solving mathematical problems important for the region.
